Solid Wood: wings, tail, fuselage, pilot. Steel: wing spars, wheel hub, tire support frame, fasteners, brackets, propeller. Rubber: 4" OD tires on front and a single 3" tire in the back.
This stunningly beautiful vintage hand-carved and hand-painted airplane is in great condition for the age, which is approximately 80 years old. The vintage biplane is very big and very heavy at 12lbs, plus another 8 lbs for the box and packaging materials. The biplane 30" wingtip to wingtip and it is 13" in height. It is hand-carved from large pieces of solid wood.
The metal parts are also robustly made to support the heavy structure of the wings and fuselage. A hand-carved pilot is also at the helm.
The propeller is 9.25 in length. The plane can be displayed by hanging in the air. Since the aircraft has wheels with brass hub spokes, it can be rolled around to change a display or remain in a stationary position on a flat surface. Condition: As with any antique, with age comes some wear. This plane has very good patina and is in excellent shape. The structure could use some screw tightening, especially the rear wheel. All functions work as built. The paint seems is in very good shape with no significant scratches. There is some minor wear, imperfections and some dirt on some of the surfaces. The propeller has scratches from the crafting process.
